Asylum Square’s Tiny Thor ROM Switch NSP Free Download is highly anticipated. Following a 48 hour game jam in 2012 in which one of its main developers came up with a rough cut of its concept, its development continued in spurts for a little over a decade before it was finally released this past June. Games that have been languishing in development hell for that long can often be a bit disjointed; fortunately, Tiny Thor is an exception. This is a hard, beautiful and all-around fantastic retro platformer to check out.

The 16-bit inspired game chronicles the adventures of the titular Asgardian warrior, long before he became the buff, long haired hero everybody knows, but here, the tale begins on his 8th birthday. Odin then gives him the famed hammer of Mjolnir as a gift, which Thor falls in love with. Meanwhile the boy plays with his new toy, while he is being tricked by some naughty schmuck who leads him to destroy the anchor of the Bifrost, severing all of Asgard from Midgard. With his father’s ravens, Tiny Thor sets out on his quest to endure Ragnarök from wiping out the world and to rectify his wrongdoings.

• The action of Mjölnir Mechanic focuses on throwing the magic hammer Mjölnir, which can be thrown in any direction, has a ricocheting functionality and can hit enemy weak spots.
• The game is created in true 16-bit pixel art style by Henk Nieborg and music by Chris Hülsbeck, who is also the project’s retro aesthetic & audio manager.
• Difficulty is tight and there are 30 levels (all handcrafted) in 3 worlds to overcome through challenging boss fights that are puzzle based.
• Abilities and Upgrades: As the player progresses, they will gain abilities and upgrades, transforming the jump and run game into a more complex action-adventure game.
• Secrets and Collectibles: Hidden gems and secrets are hidden around the levels unlocking challenge levels.
