It was my first thought after finishing Batman Arkham City NSP to pick the game apart. I was disillusioned and noted that there was so many villains that were not developed well, the storyline of a Scarecrow with the first game was replicated, although it was not as good, and Batman walked very stiffly. These complaints crowded my list and so I was not able to see clearly. But the more the days went on the stronger the desire I felt to continue playing and I realized that the countless achievements of the game grossly outnumbered my small grievances.

Batman Arkham City NSP XCI Nintendo

As Batman Arkham City NSP, I knew that it was a fantastic gaming experience. The game resumes a few months after the events of Arkham Asylum. The mayor of Gotham City has become Quincy Sharp, ex-warden of Arkham, who has taken the villains and inmates of Arkham City to a remote location within Gotham- Arkham City, where Dr. Hugo Stranges rules. The work of Batman is to find out the secrets of this disorganized land. The storyline is gripping because it has one of the most interesting openings in the modern gaming and immediately immersed me in the world created by Rocksteady.

The Development of the Core Gameplay in Arkham City:

Batman: Arkham Asylum fans will be at home in Arkham City because Rocksteady took the fundamental gameplay and honed it and polished it to a shine. Fighting is done with one-button brawls, well-timed counters, and tactical jumps. Batman has now a variety of new counters, enabling players to kill more than one enemy at once, and call on the use of gadgets in the battle smoothly. The ease of the fighting system, coupled with varying attacks and fights, kept me well entertained.

Being Batman made me happy because I would plan and execute actions similar to the Caped Crusader and make every interaction a thrilling event. Special enemies are added to the game, which adds another element of difficulty. To deal with the enemies with stun rods, armored suits, or even broken bottles, special tactics were required, and I had to evaluate a threat and address the situation in the same way Batman did. Taking the position of the Dark Knight and facing these difficulties was indeed magnificent, particularly to a comic nerd such as myself.

Discovering New Game Batman Arkham City NSP:

The theme of empowerment persisted, even among boss battles, where the process of going through them was even more important than the fights themselves. The bosses were not too much of a challenge, but the build-up to them and the prospect of these moments made the whole experience richer. The empowerment was carried over to the open world design of the game, which was more of a hub world with linked dungeons than an expansive open world such as Liberty City would be. Visiting side missions and challenges, which were in the nooks and crannies, was a further element to the gameplay. DRAGON QUEST MONSTERS: The Dark Prince.

Should you be interested in being Batman, you will be treated to two sessions of the game, the latter of which will be much more enjoyable. New Game Plus, which is unlocked upon the initial run, brings with it gadgets and challenge information, with a higher degree of difficulty. This mode felt like the first time I was Batman, and I used well-drilled strategies to the very point. The addition of challenge rooms, combat and Invisible Predator challenges, was a welcome update.

The Good and the Not-so-Good Parts of Arkham City:

Additionally, the Riddler Campaigns offered a new mode of skill training where three tasks were taken and given a certain modifier. Although these difficulties highlighted the comparatively slower speed of my Batman character, they served as training exercises. The added functionality of leaderboards provided me with additional engagement that made me interested in the game. On the negative side, the only flaw of the game is associated with the Catwoman content. Unless it is downloaded prior to playing the game, it requires the purchase as DLC. Nevertheless, even with this inconvenience, the missions of Catwoman provide a refreshing change of pace and a unique perspective on the happenings in the game.

Pros and Cons:

PROSCONS
Excellent combat system with smooth and satisfying mechanics

Some side missions feel repetitive

Open world Gotham City with lots of side missions and exploration

Controls and movement can feel clunky at times

Strong story with iconic Batman characters and villains

Boss fights are not very challenging

Emulator Requirements:

CPUIntel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz / AMD Athlon X2 4800+
RAM8 GB
GPUNVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT / ATI Radeon HD 3850

Conclusion:

Batman Arkham City NSP  is not a perfect game, however, but focusing on trivial points overshadows the masterpiece that the game is. It is distinguished by the excellent voice acting, difficult, but fun gaming, excellent opening, and memorable ending. After playing the game two times, the urge to call in sick and pursue Riddler Trophies is an idea left behind- a great indicator of the lasting popularity of the game. Making Batman: Arkham City is not only better than the first game in this line, it is better than most of the games on the market.
