9 Monkeys of Shaolin NSP – marks a true rebirth of the iconic beat up genre in vein of old-school video games. If, as a kid you had hours of fun playing SNES or SEGA beat up videogames crushing foes left and right then this new title from the creators of hardcore brawler REDEEMER is definitely for you! As a mere Chinese fisherman Wei Cheng you have to avenge the death of your friends and family slaughtered in a pirate raid at your peaceful village. Game protagonist is a very difficult character to crack since he is familiar with the basic of Shaolin ancient martial arts, which only the legendary Shaolin monks would know. Arm your faithful battle staff and embark on an adventurous trip to Medieval China and on relentless fights with armies of various enemies.

Several different types of tea discovered from broken boxes or barrels can grant health, attack power or even allow for unlimited Qi power for a period of time. Upon finishing missions, you’ll get a currency which you can use to build up ability stats and upgrade to different weapons, necklaces, and boots that will give modifiers when you equip them back at the monk outpost. Further, as an added bonus, the rewards for mission completion are real, as they affect gameplay. Some staff give health regeneration, critical strike chance, etc. while others give the chance to poison. A necklace could be a passive rejuvenation over time. The new pair of boots that took the place of the dodge jump had a massive effect on my approach to and execution of enemies as it gave me a snappy teleport power rather than dodging.
